Jesus said to her,
‘I am the resurrection and the life.
Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live...

A Conversation from our Sunday 8am community...
1) Don’t avoid grief, but do things to mark the grieving, otherwise your bottled up grief may be more difficult later on...
2) Grieving well allows for the whole person to be remembered, not just the situation when the person died...
3) counselling may be helpful and grief counsellors have strategies to help you understand what is going on...
4) the ‘stages of grief’ don’t actually come in a particular order - there are many characteristics to grieving and they can come whenever and in whatever order - we know this from experience...
5) Jesus said, "Remember me" before he died. Remembering is part of being able to move forward, integrating our experiences and making sense of the part our past plays in our futures.
6) Funerals replace weddings when you get old - try not to miss your own! [from our oldest member!]

And a note from our Minister - Rev Amelia...
It has been just over two years since my husband's death. There is not a day without longing and sadness, but I also am SO grateful for the treasured joys and memories. I am also so grateful for the understanding and care of friends, new and old. 'Moving on' for me has been a struggle of trying to find purpose for still living on without him. For me, home is where he is, so my life now feels more temporary. Existential questions arise - why are we here?
Grieving, sadness and longing, even distress, anger, pain - are normal aspects of being fully human. We embrace our mortality, even as we receive the gift of the promise of eternal life.
Let us appreciate the life God gives. Let us affirm the life around us. Even in the face of death... this is faith

Marking the End of Life
At Eastwood Uniting Church we hold the Christian conviction that while death is the end of mortal life,
it marks a new beginning in our relationship with God.
We are also here to share the sorrow of those who mourn, and to offer them our love and support.
The Christian recognition of death is a part of the Church’s offering of the whole of life to God. The Funeral Service is a time:
Normally, the Minister will meet with the Next of Kin to discuss Service arrangements, including inclusion of Eulogies/Tributes, Prayers, Hymns and Readings/Poems. Photographs are welcome. Funerals normally take a few days to arrange, but may take place some weeks after death, particularly where it is difficult to gather people together.
Eastwood Uniting Church offers several pastoral services:
