 2022 COVID UPDATE
May 2, 2022 Update
Although masks and distancing is no longer mandatory for many indoor venues, due to the number of 'high risk' people in our community, masks are still recommended for activities at Eastwood Uniting Church when indoors when social distancing cannot be maintained or when people are moving about.
Eastwood UC has decided that we will continue to hold many of our Worship services outdoors and online,
with some limited use of indoors for carefully managed groups.
Indoor users should wear masks unless there is a carefully managed and agreed COVID plan in place for limiting risk.
We love singing, but we want you all to stay safe! SINGING will be limited to distanced and/or masked groups indoors.
The only exception to this is Eastwood Uniting Church Musical Society performers,
who have a carefully managed COVID plan (including regullar testing) for limiting risk.
Please remember to bring a mask even when you are coming to our outdoor gatherings.
Please use the mask when you are likely to be in settings where you cannot maintain social distancing.
They may be removed when you are seated or in settings where distance is being maintained
(e.g. when seated and stationary).

The Church site has been upgraded for better air conditioning filtration inside.
We use large fans and keep doors and windows open whenever possible to help flow through of air.
Air Purifiers have also arrived which will be used to help clean the air in particular spaces.

Some limited small group activities
(with strict COVID controls) have recommenced online and outdoors,
with some pre-booked small groups able to use managed rooms with Air Purifiers.

Please note:
While we want to welcome you with open arms,
we are mindful of the number of 'high risk' people who are in our community.
We want to be a place where the safety of the most vulnerable is a priority.

If you are interested in who we are or what we do, please drop in on our zoom sessions
or contact the office or one of the ministry team who can organise to meet you.

A Prayer for those struggling with isolation and disconnection
and for those who continue to be anxious about mingling with others:

Gathering One, teach us to pray...

When phones are silence and batteries are flat,
We hold before you those we love.
We hold before you those we grieve.
We hold before you homes and gardens and memories.
We hold before you forgotten hope.
In our distress, we long for your hand, your voice, your guidance.
Lay your mercy as a coverlet over all -
  those who name you
and those who are not acquainted with your grief.
Remember the pain of loss and weeping.
Restore our souls to fulfil the calling of today
and grant eternal rest and banqueting
  to all in time.
