A second Uniting Climate conference to be held on Saturday May 11. The “Faith in a better future: Organising for climate action” conference is aimed at the Uniting Climate Action Network and everyone in the Uniting Church community, who wants a safer climate future. Featuring engaging speakers and inspiring stories. It will be a time to consider how climate change is impacting all of us and especially the already vulnerable. Most importantly, we’ll consider the solutions, and the actions we can take as individuals or together to make those solutions a reality. You can be part of the conference face to face, or online. WHEN: Saturday 11 May WHERE: Online and in person Centre For Ministry - The Uniting Church in Australia 16 Masons Dr, North Parramatta RSVP Page: https://events.humanitix.com/ucan-conference UCASE is a small group of Uniting Church people in this area who are people concerned about issues of social justice. Several people from Eastwood UC belong to UCASE. Others are from Epping and West Epping Uniting churches.
UCASE stands for Uniting Church Action for Society and Environment. The three ‘focus issues’ for UCASE are Refugees and people seeking asylum; Indigenous reconciliation; Climate change. We meet by Zoom every 3 months. We keep in touch by email and have a Facebook page. In late January we met with the local Federal MP, Jerome Laxale, at Epping UC, to discuss with him our current concerns about our 3 focus issues. We welcome more people from Eastwood Uniting Church to join us. Let me know if you would like to be part of the next meeting and I can arrange for you to receive the Zoom link. Marion G |
