22/9/2021 0 Comments Six months! It's pretty hard to believe that I have been with you for 6 months. What happened to getting-to-know people over coffees and lunches? What happened to pastoral visits and bumping into people at events? What happened to congregational life? What happened to life?
Despite the bumpy COVID experience, I am glad to be on the journey with Eastwood Uniting. We have had the opportunity to do some lovely things (Easter was special) and have some nice surprises along the way. The testing and capacity-building of people to adapt to continuing to serve the wider community through online English classes and groups has been both a challenge and an extraordinary accomplishment. Over the last six months we have been experiencing more than half of the time in the fallow season of lockdown. We have had to dig deep, mentally and spiritually. God's Spirit companions us, yet there are times when we have all felt the isolation and frustration associated with limited choices. It has been a struggle. The discipline of prayer and walking, masking and trying to sustain a rhythm of worship and connection has taken its toll on many. We need to continually work on encouraging one another to stay focused on self-care and care for the wellbeing of others. Thank you for your faithfulness and encouragement. Plant a sunflower seed and know that you are part of God's plan for growth and life! - Rev Amelia
